About SOLASindex
SOLASindex is a compliance-structured equipment index for the maritime safety industry. Every product listed here maps to a specific chapter of the SOLAS convention — the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea.
The index covers life-saving appliances, fire protection systems, radio communications, and navigation equipment across four SOLAS chapters: III, II-2, IV, and V. Products are organized by the regulation that requires them, not by brand or editorial preference.
Why it exists
Maritime safety equipment data is fragmented across manufacturer websites, classification society databases, and gated portals. There is no single structured source that connects regulatory requirements to the products that satisfy them.
SOLASindex fills that gap. Manufacturers are indexed with their products, specifications, and certification associations — all organized under the regulatory framework that governs procurement.
Listing statuses
Every manufacturer in the index has one of three statuses:
- Listed — Default. Products appear with specifications and regulation associations. No action required from the manufacturer.
- Claimed — Free. The manufacturer has verified their listing, corrected product data, added certification numbers, and enabled a contact button. A verified badge is displayed.
- Premium — Paid. The most complete product record in the index. Full spec sheets, product-to-regulation clause mapping, logos, product images, and attached datasheets.
